THE DESIGN & SEWING STUDIO is a creative space focused on garment design and manufacturer located in Greater Manchester.

Founded by Annie Keki in 2021, THE DESIGN & SEWING STUDIO was created with the intention of providing studio space for emerging and established designers incorporating garment manufacturing. Annie is self taught and has extensive experience in garment construction, production and design development. 

The idea for THE DESIGN & SEWING STUDIO came about while talking to young designers who expressed frustration at the cost of continuing independently following their fashion study. Annie recognised the opportunity to open up her fully equip atelier to others. Subsequently Annie saw the need for a local manufacturer, a company that designers could trust and develop a long-standing relationship with. Within the first year she expanded the item to opening a dedicated facility that connects manufacturing with designers.

High-end production, a passion for what we do and creativity with love is central to the studio. A dedication to taking fashion from initial idea to finished product with respect for those who work here and the planet underpin this beautiful, creative and happy studio.

THE DESIGN & SEWING STUDIO empowers designers to realise their designs. Keeping samples and high-end production at the heart of the business, Annie is passionate that manufacturing should be accessible to everyone. Working from a beautiful, light-filled studio at the foot of the Pennines, the highly-skilled team of THE DESIGN & SEWING STUDIO are dedicated to bringing the vision of designers to life.

Ethical and sustainable manufacturing that values and rewards skilled staff is achievable in England. We aim to forge close links with designers be they based in the studio or elsewhere. Clients are welcomed into the studio during development to experience first-hand their pieces being created. THE DESIGN & SEWING STUDIO is at the beginning of our journey, the first collections will be made in 2025 and we look forward to realising our ambitions and becoming a trusted partner to designers.

THE ATELIER

Located in Woodend Mills, the Atelier is a beautiful space filled with fabrics, trims and paraphernalia collected over thirty year in the textile industry. A textile mill on the edge of the beautiful Saddleworth Moor, built in 1848 and manufacturing cloth until 1951 is a most fitting place for our little haven of creativity.

We offer bespoke tailoring services from experienced and highly trained independent designers. We also offer tuition, CMT short-run service, pattern development and sampling. We offer by appointment only service. From the original consultation and throughout the manufacture of your piece we ensure you are part of the process.
